After the summer of 2013 I wrote about a little Castlevania-inspired game I was working on. I didn’t want to reveal it until it was further along into development, but I ended up shifting focus to PuzzleByte. Spending so long away from Game Maker, I forgot how hard it can be to deal with that pipeline. Making simple changes to things like enemy speed and timers for animation states requires so much more time and effort, it’s quite a chore to fine-tune things that very much need the work. With that and some major issues like GM’s lack of easy scaling support, I was never able to get the game feeling as good as I wanted, and I couldn’t get it to render at any size but 1080p.

It’s been too long and at this point there’s no doubt I’m abandoning the game. But even though I can’t easily fix its issues, even though it’s not in a fully presentable state, it’s definitely something I feel I should show here. I’ve listed the game up on Itch.io if anyone’s interested in giving it a play. I must say, despite its small issues, it’s a pretty fun and pretty complete single level with a lot to find and experience within. I hope you all enjoy this little Bitcoon-vania game!
