It’s been a long time coming! Much too long for my taste, and probably yours as well, given that the last update (and the game hitting alpha) was nearly a month ago. Much has changed in that time, and I think PuzzleByte is something I can be proud of now. Development will continue as I get feedback and make some tweaks and updates, especially if the game really catches on and there’s a good amount of demand for ports. But with the game finally finished and released, I can get to promotion and start working on my next project.
Now that I’ve shipped PuzzleByte, I know what it takes to complete a game, even if it is a “simple” one. I really want to get back to the more complex styles of game that I started out with, and especially now that I understand what hidden challenges may lie ahead, I feel more prepared to tackle them. Unity has given me some very handy tools I wish Game Maker offered, and I now look toward Unreal for more. I haven’t written a line of code for my next project, but there are many options available to me and it’s an exciting prospect. Much moreso when I’m not leaving something partway-done to pursue something else~
